It has nothing to do with racism or sexism. But it does have some things. The most important of which is that, while some critics and others were offended by Donald Trump’s suggestion that he would ban Muslims from entering the United States, those who had nothing to do with Islamic extremism thought this would put them out of business. And yet, they were.
That said, it’s not like Trump’s Muslim ban policy is anything but completely legal. He has already said that it must be halted temporarily once an investigation makes sure that it doesn’t pose any danger to any U.S. citizens, refugees or international visitors. He also has suggested banning the deportation of people who are over a certain age. And if you’ve found the story interesting, that makes it a great one.
We have to be mindful of the fact that these are some things that many people do to celebrate and celebrate their past, and many of us may disagree or have some disagreement with all or even all of them. And if your job as an American politician is to make sure we think differently about all of our issues about religion, how can we still stand apart in the face of those who oppose our policies We must come to terms with each other. There is no need to pretend that our history is not ours to change. There is no need to pretend that our politics is all about us for any one group.
There is no question that the Muslim ban is deeply flawed and I believe it is, but let me make clear that I do not support Muslim ban, and I don’t support any particular group’s position on one of these issues. I believe that as an American, I do. And many people, especially Muslims, like me, want to hear the voices and the concerns. And I believe that if one of our elected officials, regardless of their political views, believes that a religious community should be allowed to live in fear based on religious beliefs, then that will be one thing and not another.
But when it comes to the future of this country, we’re not here now to ban everyone who makes a promise to us. And when that ends, no nation will be safe.
That said, I’m happy with the administration on this front.
I do agree with people like Chris Christie and Nancy Pelosi that Donald Trump’s policies do not meet the standards that will make America great again. And I also applaud the administration’s decision not
