It’s been almost a decade since Nirvana released their fourth single. But you might be asking, Did the band break up as the result of a bad breakup That was the question that got much more interesting last year.
When I asked bandmate, Brian Maynard, if he thinks it was due to a breakup, I was told on Tuesday that he actually did.
We definitely didn’t break up, Maynard said.
He made one point of the answer For some reason we were talking about going back to Nirvana, but I never really considered it at the time because of an internal conflict.
When I talked to Maynard about this, he said It is a question that all of us have, and one that still bothers people in a lot of different ways. It’s a question that you want to ask at some point in our lives.
As usual, he doesn’t want to go into too much detail. But one of the biggest questions he’s asked himself is this
Should we continue with the band
Maynard is a huge fan of what the band has done. But he would likely love to continue what the band was doing back then, even if the breakup got a bit too overwhelming for him to handle.
It’s a personal question, he said. And one that’s pretty hard for me not to answer in the future.
When the band broke up, he said, they tried doing things in a certain way so we just kept doing the same thing over and over as long as we could. If you’re gonna move forward, move forward, move forward, it’s gonna keep growing.
For the uninitiated the question you ask about who’s been the band’s best guitarist or what they’ve been through with guitarist maybe that’s all it matters. But for those who like to remember a band that had to do things in ways they hadn’t wanted to do, it’s hard to imagine the breakup getting you any more concerned.
