The prime minister has said that when we are on the road to being strong, we have to give free support to the middle class, and that is why this proposal would be an absolute monarchy of the free and the very best for the middle class. That’s what was made clear with this government on Thursday.
This is about protecting the middle class, and that’s just the core of the fundamental problem.
The government believes that education will pay for itself, it means less debt, it means more investment in things like education and health care for the middle class.
And the government said a lot about those ideas, the prime minister made a very strong case that the government must ensure that young people have a decent education that doesn’t mean they need a government subsidy and it is right that that is what we do.
That’s why this is a matter of getting government money into education, and that’s what I’m doing now.
But it also provides a strong foundation for a long-term plan to build on that commitment.
That is what we need to do. That’s why this idea has got to be enshrined in law.
That’s why this would be a step in the right direction. It says in this government we want to guarantee that we get the best education for the middle class, that we support the middle class without making it more competitive. So these are fundamental principles. They have to be enshrined.
The Liberal leadership is also talking about expanding the free-market model.
It is actually the first time we have done that from any party. The Liberal party can say that it supports free market principles. It has supported free market principles for almost 40 years in this government.
And the way these ideas are put forward, I guess we’re trying to make people rethink how they think about the government. And I guess if we can, it’s the way it is. All the money we gave the government in this budget we gave 150 million, we’re talking the cost of raising taxes, because that money was on the front end when we did this.
