It’s all about what works for you. Where does your inspiration come from
Some of my art comes from reading a book, and I think of how a book is always just one story. In the case of The Book of Mormon, I read the Book of Mormon because it was really pretty. I’m kind of interested in the idea of magic so I look at the world and think, well, what is it like to have just a book where everyone knows everything that you know about God’s plans
I was reading Mormon mythology and I was thinking, how is this going to work And then I read some of the mythology of Joseph Smith which is pretty much what I read when I was working at the printer. I read the characters out loud a lot. And so what does my inspiration for magic come from
I get so many great questions about this because they ask, what is magic, what is magic, how I think I am. I think there are a lot of different things that I’m drawn towards. I don’t necessarily look for everything that I’m reading. I look for what it’s like to be in your own heart or your own body, or in the heart of others, or I look for things that are really beautiful, and it just kind of works like magic. So I can draw everything that I can and draw whatever I want but I also have books that I’ll draw with others, that can actually help me. There’s just so many things I’ve written because of the Mormon myth. I am inspired by so wide a wide range of things. So I just draw things that really seem different for me, that I want to be drawn on.
What kind of inspiration do you draw
I think it’s interesting. I think it’s a very important thing. And the world is so much more important to me when I am drawing because my work influences an audience for how their eyes and their mind and what they do to make their world better. I think The Book of Mormon is definitely something where something really big has been written out there. It’s kind of like a big dream for me to actually be in a house and work with the people in the world that I have such
